Follow Your World is an interesting Google service, which will alert users via email whenever the maps on Google mapping products will be updated. The user will be warned only to update the sites, which pre-selects itself. The user can choose a specific point on the map, name it and also to define the email to which will be sent information about the changes. This applies to mapping services Google Maps and Google Earth. Follow Your World also provides a handy dashboard to manage your subscriptions.

LibreOffice 3.3

From today is available the first stable version 3.3 of office suite LibreOffice which is issued by the organization Document Foundation. The office suite was still in September last year, is based on open-source OpenOffice.org source code. It also contains some new enhancements as compared to OpenOffice such as support for importing SVG files and better formatting of cover pages in Writer. Of course it also includes support for millions of rows in Calc and new options for importing CSV files.

Opera Mini

Company Opera Software revealed in their report details of the number of users of their product Opera Mini. In the last month of year 2010 it used more than 85.5 million users. This means 6.9% increase over the previous month and compared to December in 2009 increase by 84.7%. Thanks to Opera Mini there were viewed 44.6 billion pages, transferred 706 terabytes of data. Opera Mini was the most common in Russia, Indonesia and India.

Successful application from 14 years old boy

In the United States and Australia the most popular application for mobile operating systems iOS is game, which is written by 14-year-old Robert Nay. Bubble Ball game is simulation uses the laws of physics, the player trying to get a swift ball to its destination and must use objects and gravity. The best-seller game for PC is

New record in number PC-game copies sold for one month was created by online role-playing game World of Warcraft (WoW). More specifically, the third expansion pack labelled Catalysm. The game was listed seventh December and the first month managed to sell a whopping 4.7 million copies. This pack also holds another record and the record in number of copies sold during the first 24 hours after launch. For the single and the first day the company sold 3.3 million copies.

Android SMS bug

Google confirmed that its popular mobile operating system Android contains SMS bug. This means that SMS messages were ever sent to another recipient from the contacts list as the user selected. The problem may be that the built-in SMS application sometimes open another conversation, as to which the user click. The good news is that the company has managed to reproduce and develop a fix that they will deploy. Google also recommends double checking the current message in order to avoid such failure.

Vulnerability in Windows

Operating system Microsoft Windows has vulnerability, which can take control of your pc. Specifically it is the vulnerability in Graphics Rendering Engine. This error is not in any OS, is not present in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. It occurs in Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code in the security context of the logged-on user. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

iPhone’s problem with Alarm

Non-repeating alarms set only for one day did not wake owners of iPhones and other devices running on iOS of version 4.0 and above in the first two days of January 2011. Apple has acknowledged this problem and says that should last only until 3 January. Repeated alarm set for certain days of the week did not have problem during the first days of the new year. The reason has not been given but the glitch appears to affect single alarm settings on the iPhone 4 and earlier models with software updates.

Skype video calls for iOS

Skype has updated its free iPhone app, adding the ability to make video calls over 3G mobile networks. The updated app is available for download from Apple's app store. Skype for iPhone 3.0 will run on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and fourth-generation iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or above. For the best call quality Skype recommends using Wi-Fi. The new video calling feature is compatible with Skype's latest apps for PCs running Windows, Linux or Mac OS X.

Mobile app for the color-blind

Dan Kaminsky, a security researcher, who became famous mainly thanks to the discovery of one of the most serious vulnerabilities in Internet infrastructure, now releases a new application. DanKam application is designed for smartphones and helps color-blind people to distinguish colors, especially those who suffer from a lack of sensitivity to green light. It works on live video from the smartphone camera applies the selected filter (available from 8 filters), which pushes against the actual color. Users pay only 2.39€ for the app and from this month is available for Android and iOS but later it will be issued for other mobile platforms.

According to comScore statistics website of social networking Facebook is the third largest website in the world. Facebook passed Yahoo page in the number of users visiting the site per month. The only two Web properties left which are bigger than Facebook are Microsoft (869 million worldwide visitors) and Google (970 million) when you look at all of their sites collectively. In March 2008, Facebook was at the 9th position gradually overtaken by MySpace, Amazon, eBay, AOL, Wikipedia and Yahoo eventually.

Word Lends - an interesting application

Late last week the company Quest Visual launched its very interesting application. Application called Word Lens, which is designed to translate text and only available to the operating system iOS used in the iPhone, can recognize and translate the text directly by replacing it the live shot camera smartphone. Also knows the translated text is displayed in a similar color, rotation and even a similar font. Innovative YouTube app for Android

3DMark 11 in 3 versions

After a slight delay, Futuremark has finally released all three versions of 3DMark 11 of its popular benchmarking software. It is designed for testing graphics cards compatible with DirectX 11, including hardware tessellation, multithreaded and depth of field. This application consists of six new tests. Four focused on graphics, one physics ane one combining CPU and GPU workloads. Naturally 3DMark 11 requires DirectX 11, a DirectX 11 compatible video card, and Windows 7 or Vista.

Yesterday Google unveiled some new features on their Gmail webmail services, specifically for Priority Inbox. The first is to show reason why the mail was marked as important and a small pop-UPE when placing the cursor on the yellow mark it shows an important email. Is it some brief explanation of the "Important because you marked it as important" or “important mainly because of the people in conversation "and the like. The second change is quickly learning to the changes undertaken in the selection of important messages manually by the user.
